Description: Apatite is usually green in color but can be yellow, brown, blue, purple, pink, or colorless. These colors are often so vivid that apatite has frequently been cut as a gemstone. Apatite is a brittle material, it breaks by both fracture and cleavage. However, at Gemrock Peru we have developed a method, which enables us to cut this material and provide you with amazingly beautiful cabochons.

Color: Apatite is usually green in color but can be yellow, brown, blue, purple, pink, or colorless. These colors are often so vivid that apatite has frequently been cut as a gemstone.
Origin: Department of Lima, in the desert mountain foothills of the Peruvian Andes at approximately 2500 m of altitude
Mining/Collection: Our Apatite was not mined but hand-collected in the Peruvian desert Mountains. In 2021, Gemrock staff members went rockhounding in the central Peruvian desert mountains and discovered an area with a very rich geology locating epidote, tourmaline, tourmaline in quartz, and apatite as possible minerals to be exploited for decor and jewelry products. The area produces small amounts of Apatite. Peruvian green Apatite can appear as big but brittle and cracked mass or in small more concise tube-shaped crystals.

Ethically mined and produced: Our Apatite was hand-collected in the Peruvian desert mountains. Our Cabochons are exclusively produced by our in-house gemcutters. Our staff works under legal labor contracts, at higher than average salaries, and receives all labor benefits as well as excellence bonuses and a share in the companies’ profits.
Environmentally friendly and carbon-neutral: Gemrock continuously works towards saving water and energy, and reducing waste along its entire production chain. The remaining impact is measured via carbon footprint evaluation and is neutralized by a reforestation project financed by a small percentage of our profits from each cabochon.
