Description: Quantum Cuatro is solid milky quartz to transparent rock quartz infiltrated by chrysocolla and malachite. The color variation 2 is clear quartz infiltrated by Malachite.

  • Color: vivid green, transparent

  • Origin: Peru.

  • Mining/Collection: Quantum Cuatro is a unique huge body of quartz and is quarried (not mined) in Tendadora Mine.

  • Crystal Form/Structure: solid milky quartz to transparent rock quartz infiltrated by Chrysocolla and Malachite. Within the massive quartz cracks and drusis are common whose walls are lined with quartz crystals. The quartz crystals are often overgrown with small bubble-shaped (botryoidal) crystals of Chrysocolla and Malachite.

  • Hardness: 6-7 on the Mohs scale

  • Unique Fact: Originally Quantum Cuatro was the trade name for a mineral combination of shattuckite, dioptase, malachite, and chrysocolla on smoky quartz that was found in Namibia. Peruvian Quantum Cuatro is a very similar combination of quartz, malachite, and chrysocolla. It was originally sold as chrysocuarzo (Chrysocolla in quartz) but then Peruvian dealers switched to rebrand it as Quantum Cuatro when the nearly identical look and very similar composition became obvious.

  • Ethically mined and produced: Gemrock only buys from legal providers (paper trail). Our Cabochons are exclusively produced by our in-house gemcutters. Our staff works under legal labor contracts, at higher than average salaries, and receives all labor benefits as well as excellency bonuses and a share in the companies’ profits.

  • Environmentally friendly and carbon-neutral: Gemrock continuously works towards saving water and energy, and reducing waste along its entire production chain. The remaining impact is measured via carbon footprint evaluation and is neutralized by a reforestation project financed by a small percentage of our profits from each cabochon.

  • Care Instructions: Clean your Quantum Cuatro by wiping it with a dry cloth.
