A visually breathtaking achievement of exceptional craftsmanship made from rare fan-shaped Epidote Crystals. This top-quality cabochon is a unique and exclusive Gemrock product that meets the highest expectations of jewelers. The fan-shaped Epidote Crystals were hand-collected by us (rockhounding) in the Peruvian desert mountains near the capital Lima. The impeccable cutting quality represents the superior craftsmanship of our experienced in-house master gem cutters. Ethical sourcing and production. Environmentally friendly and carbon neutral.
Description: While epidote is an abundant rock-forming mineral, but one of secondary origin, fan-shaped Epidote Crystals are rare. Epidote occurs in marble and schistose rocks of metamorphic origin. It is also a product of hydrothermal alteration of various minerals (feldspars, micas, pyroxenes, amphiboles, garnets, and others) composing igneous rocks. The color of Epidote varies with the amount of iron present and reaches from yellowish-green or pistachio-green to grey, brown, or nearly black. Epidote displays strong pleochroism (or iridescence), meaning their optical properties vary with the direction of light.

Color: Pistachio green with fibrous fan-shaped crystal structure
Origin: Desert mountains near the capital Lima in Peru
Mining/Collection: The fan-shaped Epidite crystals that serve as raw material for this type of cabuchon were hand-collected, not mined. Therefore this extraction did not cause any environmental impact. For more information see our YouTube videos part 1 and part 2 from the crystal expedition.
Crystal Form/Structure: These crystals form like fibrous layers. The fibers are shaped like fans, starting at a central point and fanning out towards the opposite side. This is a rare crystal structure for Epidote, mainly known from Pakistan and Peru.
Hardness: 6.5 on the Mohs scale,
Chakra: Epidote is strongly associated with the heart chakra. It helps open and activate this energy center, promoting love, compassion, and emotional healing. It assists in releasing negative emotions and past traumas that block the heart chakra.
Astrological Sign: Gemini.
Ethically mined and produced: Gemrock is the only company producing cabochons from fan-shaped Epidote crystals. The crystals are hand-collected in the Peruvian desert mountains that form the Andean foothills, not mined. Our cabochons are exclusively produced by our in-house gem cutters. Our staff works under legal labor contracts, at higher than average salaries, and receives all labor benefits as well as excellence bonuses and a share in the companies’ profits.
Environmentally friendly and carbon-neutral: Gemrock continuously works towards saving water and energy, and reducing waste along its entire production chain. The remaining impact is measured via carbon footprint evaluation and is neutralized by a reforestation project financed by a small percentage of our profits from each cabochon.
Care Instructions: Clean your Epidote by wiping it with a dry cloth.
Authenticity Tips:
