Description: Manganoan calcite or manganocalcite is a variety of calcite being rich in manganese, which gives a rose color to the mineral. The most fascinating thing about this stone is that it is fluorescent. Put under ultraviolet light the stone emits a strong purple/orange glow.

Color: white to rose-colored, orange to pink under UV light
Origin: Peru
Mining/Collection: So far, there has been only one mine for manganocalcite in Peru. Over the last couple of years, we noted the quality of the material getting worse and worse. It showed less fluorescence, more white chalky contents, holes, and black impurities as well as less good color. All this is a clear sign of a mineral vein being fully exploited and disappearing. Now we have good news. A new vein of manganocalcite was found in Peru providing top-quality material with super fluorescence, great banded color, without chalky parts or black impurities, and no porous material full of holes.
Crystal Form/Structure: Solid manganocalcite is soft and brittle and requires very careful cutting.
Hardness: 3-4 on the Mohs scale,
Chakra: Mangano calcite can help to align the chakras and can help open up the heart chakra.
